Welcome to Onset Village in Wareham Massachusetts. This
unique Cape Cod community can trace its beginnings to 1666
when the pilgrims of Plimoth Plantation purchased this land
from the Wanpanoags. For 2 centuries the village was sparsely
populated farm and woodland. Seaside resorts came into fashion
in the late 1800's, and the gingerbread cottage colony of
Onset came to be. Summer activities here are now filled
with nightlyband concerts, movies in the park and special
weeekend blues, as well as other summer festivals.
Beaches
The tropical waters of the gulf stream flow into Onset Bay
and are further warmed by the sun for the best ocean water
swimming on Cape Cod. Pristine white sands, lifeguards and
no undertow make the uncrowded beaches of Onset an easy
and safe place to enjoy, only 130 yards from your door.
Boating
Exploring Onset's inlets, islands and coves is an endless
adventure. Kayak, sailboard, outboard and jet ski rentals
are all available in the area. Plus, Cape Cod Canal, Deep
Sea and Whale Watch cruichedules from Onset pier.
Walking
Walk to restaurants, coffe shops, the grocery store, gifts,
antiques, books and more - all just outside your door. Trolley
service runs regularly to the Cranberry Plaza Mall and to
downtown Wareham. Stroll the side streets and enjoy Victorian
architecture, or walk through beautiful seaside parks and
beaches. Seeing this area by bicycle is fun, and nearby
Cape Cod Canal Bicycle Trail offers a car free water view
ride with rentals available.
